What Is Pocophone?

Well as we know Xiaomi (millet in Chinese) means little rice. Though people has explained this in a different way but the more exact story behind this name is low budget phone with lot of features. While Pocophone means "Little Phone" in Spanish. Kind of Flagship featured phone with a higher midrange budget.

Poco C3 - Cheapest Pocophone?

Before proceed let me give you a note that in recent months all the students over the world joining online classes as the educational institutions are closed due to Covid-19 pandemic.

To help the students for their online classes Xiaomi has launched this Poco C3 with a good feature and price is less than 150 USD. Isn't it a value addition to society. Yes it is. Take love Xiaomi.

Poco C3 is a budget friendly device as Xiaomi announced in a live launching event. Let's get to know which features Poco C3 brought.

Body & Display

It's a 180 gm phone with 9mm thickness which is okay in this budget.

It has 6.43" HD+ Display with a resolution of 720x1600 pixel. It has 20:9 aspect ratio and 80.3% of screen to body ratio along with 270 ppi density. It doesn't have gorilla glass but they said it has panda glass protection. Not much details available about this glass but still has something that's by far good.

Hardware & Software

Poco has the ad free OS which is poco OS from Xiaomi. It has smooth experience as other pocophone provides. It is built with a 12 nm Helio G35 chipset made by MediaTek. Well, it's very much okay if you consider the price. Daily experience is good with this chipset except gaming.

As Graphics processing unit it has PowerVR GE8320 which is okay for daily use but not for higher-mid level gaming. In this price range we can't expect gaming device but this one can handle high end games like PUB-G, Asphalt 9 but with lower frame rates and graphics.

Poco C3 has 5000 mAh battery with 10W charger in the box

RAM - 3/4 GB & ROM- 32/64 GB

Camera Module

It's not important for what purpose people are buying phones but one thing everyone consider is a good camera. Obviously considering the price range. In this area you might be happy with this phone.

Well it has 13 mp camera which is 1.0 um sensor with f2.2 aperture. If you have little knowledge on photography you know what aperture is. Even if you don't know let me give you an idea.

Lower aperture means higher light can be captured by the lens and vice versa.  Now a days f2.0 or less is good. In this case f2.2 lens will not give you a better output at night but in daylight output will be okay.

In addition, it has 2 mp macro and 2 mp depth sensor which has no use according to me but if you do love to take macro photos you can take. And depth sensor might help you to get better portrait photo.

In front camera section it has 5 mp selfie camera and it's good in this price range.

Except this feature both primary and secondary camera is HDR enabled.

Poco M2 - Mid-Level Pocophone

This is the little brother of Poco M2 pro which is already available in the market for few months. Why Poco M2? Xiaomi maybe trying to establish this Poco as full functional sub brand so they have now entry, mid and higher mid level smartphone under Poco lineup.

Body & Display

Poco M2 is a 192 gm phone with 9.1mm thickness which feels bit heavier but weight balance is good though.

It has 6.53" Full HD Display with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixel. It has 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 80.2% of screen to body ratio along with 395 ppi density. This display has gorilla glass 3 protection. So, no worries with the display safety.

Hardware & Software

Poco M2 has the poco OS from Xiaomi which is obvious and the smoothness is as usual. It has smooth experience as other poco series phones provides. Under the display it has a 12 nm Helio G80 chipset made by MediaTek. Well, it's not that strong like SD 765 but this processor has a good vive in the market. We expected G90 but still it's good.

As Graphics processing unit it has Mali G52 MC2 which is a medium quality GPU for gaming and very good for media experience.

As we got a MediaTek cpu and mali gpu we can say this phone will not have any kinda issue with media, app using experience. But In graphics hungry games you might face frame drops and that is normal.

Poco M2 has 5000 mAh battery with 18W Fast charger in the box.

RAM - 6 GB & ROM- 128/256 GB

Camera Module

Expecting good camera from a 200 USD phone is justified but this camera performance is not upto the mark. I mean with this price we could get better primary sensor at least.

Well it has 13 mp camera which is 1.12 um sensor with f2.2 aperture. You already read what aperture is and how it affects. If not please read above in the POCO C3 camera section, I explained.

Performance??? Almost like Poco C3 but in some case it's better because of better processor but not a good camera in this price segment I would say.

In addition, it has 8 mp ultrawide, 5 mp macro and 2 mp depth sensor. If you are used to take macro photos you can take. Quality is okay. And depth sensor might help you to get better portrait shots.

8 mp ultra wide lens didn't satisfy. Specially the exposure balance and color grading is not good. We can say an average wide angle camera.

In front camera section it has 8 mp selfie camera with f2.0 and it's good to be honest. COlors are natural and more detailed.

Both primary and secondary camera is HDR enabled and supports FHD video recording in 30 fps.

Price Of Poco C3 & Poco M2

  • Poco C3 - 130-150 USD (12500 Taka)
  • Poco M2 - 170-200 USD (15000 Taka)

Should You Buy?

Well, Poco C3 is a basic phone for beginners and a very good phone for media experience and battery backup. If your main priority is not camera and has low budget. This one is a good choice.

Poco M2, I don't know why but I will not recommend. In this price you can have other phones with better camera performance and a snapdragon chipset. If you are a big fan of Poco series and has an exact 200 USD budget then this one is for you.

I hope you guyz liked the review and please let me know if anything I have missed. Stay tuned and take care.
